This is why Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade is better than most anime-adapted games out there
Terrible games have disappointed me so many times this year. After playing a bunch of unoriginal, subpar anime-adapted games like DanMachi Battle Chronicle, I’ve started losing hope. Almost every anime-adapted title I’ve played this year has been absolute trash.
The only beam of light I have left in this dark pit of money-grubbing gacha games and banal multiplayer titles is Japan last week.

As someone who’s followed the Jujutsu Kaisen anime since its release, I’m losing my freakin’ mind over this game. I mean, a turn-based strategy game where I get to battle cursed monsters as Yuji Itadori and Satoru Gojo? Hell yeah! But I’m also very slightly, optimistically cautious about it since it’s a gacha game, and most of them suck.
But from the videos I’ve watched on YouTube and the reviews I’ve heard and seen on TapTap, Phantom Parade doesn’t seem like it sucks. Well, at least from what I've seen, the gacha system part seems somewhat fair and that makes me happy. The actual gameplay though is pretty standard when compared to other similar games, with the only difference being visuals, animation, and the story itself.
Phantom Parade uses a turn-based combat system where players can strategically fight enemies using different characters and their abilities and attacks. There are elemental weaknesses, guard effects, and other status effects that make combat more challenging and enjoyable. But beyond that, it’s pretty normal and there’s really nothing to get super thrilled about.

What makes Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade superior and better than most anime-adapted games out there are the visuals, animations, and cutscenes. Unlike other games where most of the content has been lazily copy-pasted from the source, Phantom Parade features new cutscenes, visuals, and voice lines to help make the story flow more naturally in the actual game. While it does follow the real events of the anime series and sometimes features content from the show, it changes things to make the experience more immersive and new.
For fans like myself, I found this really impressive because it showed how dedicated the developers were to making the game feel fresh to both people who haven’t seen Jujutsu Kaisen and those who’ve been long-time ers. Not only will I get to rewatch the show again, but I might even get to see it from a different perspective because of all the new visuals, animations, and voice-backed dialogues.

Normally I wouldn’t be so head over heels for a game that I haven’t tried, but just seeing how it’s all been set up for success makes me hopeful. So far, there hasn’t been any official announcement of a global version arriving, but I might actually give the Japanese version a try if I can’t hold my excitement any longer. Will this finally be an anime-adapted game worth playing? It very much seems so, but only time will really tell.

I already lost hope for any anime game that has gacha in it, I just want a fighting game with actual good mechanics rather than a cash grab.

If you hate cash grabs then a mobile game isn't the right one for you. Go look up Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear if you want a good fighting game.
