Initially it started good, then becomes p2w.
Now the p2w aspect is currently decreasing, because of the newly implemented features:
1. Colourful Sticker wish. Higher probability of wished sticker to appear in chests having Colourful Stickers.
2. Weekly 2 free heroes rotation, usable at any modes, casual & ranked
3. Decreased the Hero Coin cost for buying newer heroes by 50% (from 160 to 80). AFAIK, now all heroes cost 80 Hero Coins
4. Finishing the free-tier battle will earn you 80 Hero Coins throughout the season, enough for you to buy 1 hero from the Shop
This is indeed a good direction they are heading. I'm increasing my rating
