Warm Snow” is a highly engaging roguelike, which is set in a mysterious world and full of dangers. Taking place in a brutal world of China treated as a dark fantasy kingdom, the game has a very appealing art style and fairly interesting gameplay which makes the title a breath of fresh air for any fan of roguelike games.

The plot of the game is based on so-called Warm Snow which is a phenomenon that is gradually destroying the territory and its inhabitants. You are Bi-An, the lone warrior on his mission to reveal the truth behind this curse and liberate the people from it; you must fight your way through the enemies with the weird transformations and bosses and constant threat of the Warm Snow.

Actually one of the most commendable factors of “Warm Snow” can be regarded as its combat system. It is an action packed game in which one gets the opportunity to fight very hard and fast and one has to think very fast as well. Bi-An was created with the ability to carry different weapons, with in-game abilities that make it possible to modify play activities open to players. There is also a well-thought-out upgrade system in the game, which lets players acquire relics that have mechanics changing gameplay to a great extent and making the game more diverse if played again.

Graphically, there is mystery and horror, the art of “Warm Snows” is drawn in the stoke, and its dark. Environments are very well done and there’s something almost haunting about characters’ designs which fits the game’s theme to a tee. The graphics enchants the game with some difficult music and sound, and provocative sounds also add the touch of the game’s surroundings.

However, there are some drawbacks too, such as the game’s level of difficulty that might be rather challenging to a number of gamers. “Warm Snow” doesn’t pull any punches and includes difficult combat and the fact that any attempt at the game will inevitably end in permadeath and a return to square one. ✘ Permadeath System – Dying means that progress is reset, and it's felt like a punishment, but it is repetitive.

✘ A steep learning curve - It takes time and effort to learn the mechanics and combat system and will probably turn off some players.

✘ Narrow Story Depth - The lore is interesting as of now but not that deep when compared to the other action RPGs.

✘ May Be Monotonous - It may not be able to give repetitive runs to those types of players whose leaning might become tiring with time.

Warm Snow is an awesome roguelike draped in its dark fantasy cloak, coupled with hard-hitting combat and loads to upgrade. The very fact that it has a special atmosphere and fast-paced action with a lot of weapons makes it challenging for fans of the genre. It may not suit everyone though, especially with its punishing difficulty and permanent death mechanisms. If roguelikes that test the player to develop their skill and adaptability are what you desire, Warm Snow is worth diving in for and quite certainly makes for a rewarding experience. On the other hand, if softer progression is more appealing to you, then perhaps this may not be the title for you.
