The best metroidvania there is. I had this in my library just sitting for months after playing for 1 hr. But then I saw a mobile port for this game and decided to give that a chance which was the best choice I ever made. I completed the whole game twice on the mobile port and completed it in the PC once and going crazy with the wait for its sequel.
I do not typically get engaged to a game's story that much. But hollow knight expresses the game's story beautifully in a way that just leaves you wanting more ( I even bought the wanderer's journal book ). The story is wonderfully conveyed through the background and short dialogues from the various lovable NPCs throughout the game. The world and the characters feel really alive.
Visually the game is so stunning. The map is so huge giving you hours of really fun exploration and surprises.
The combat is so simple at the start but it just gets better and better as you progress through the game. The boss fights are just phenomenal with unique bosses when defeating them feels really rewarding.
Definitely a must play game that you just need to give sometime at the start after which I guarantee you will be hooked. The start can be ra little cruel with the map and location but once you get the hang of it, you can't stop.
