Great game!
I'm a veteran, started with FreedomU on PSP, and played several titles leading up to Wilds. I played the beta on Xbox, mostly out of curiosity, and was thoroughly impressed with the quality-of-life add-ons as well as several of the weapons I played around with. Insect Glaive- There's been noticeable contention around the core gameplay of the glaive as it is in Wilds. I preface that this is my own opinion, I not only welcome the "change" but took to it quite intuitively. This was a return to form for IG. Before Rise and World, the Glaive was introduced as a mounting weapon. Aerial was used, but it wasn't the most effective way to use IG. Add to it that they've added more mechanics that make it a powerhouse. All kinsects appear to have powder and assist abilities as opposed to having to pick and choose. We'll have to wait and see in the full game just how they work and how much of a return to form this is, we may have to tame kinsects again. (A prospect I'm not excited about.) The addition of the new charged attack and the requirement to have all three extracts to access the full move set is a mixed bag. I understand why it was done; the old style incentivized buffering your extracts to extend red uptime. It was a good run, but this is simply no longer viable, but in its place, we can now maintain uptime if done correctly (I.E. landing a focused strike on a wound or getting a triple shot off kinsect). Overall, I'm impressed with the playstyle and can't wait to get the full game if for no other weapon, then definitely the IG.
